A mid Victorian Rosewood open armchair with the original hide buttoned back, seat and arms.
This chair came to us for restoration of the damaged buttoned seat and arms. We used a piece of the original leather from the seat to repair the arms.
The seat was traditionally re-upholstered with new webbing and springs, the existing horsehair fillings were re-scrimed to regain the original shape.
The seat was covered with russet hide which was hand stained to match the colour and patina of the original.
We then replaced the piping and the brass nails, which we antiqued to match the remaining nails on the chair.
